U.S. international striker Bobby Wood could extend his stay at Hamburg after the club opened talks over a new contract.

Americans Abroad: Wood injured again

Wood joined Hamburg from Union Berlin on a four-year deal last summer, but he's been linked to a move to the Premier League while enjoying a breakout season in the Bundesliga.

"We are in talks with Bobby," Hamburg sporting director Jens Todt told Sport Bild. "We are interested in keeping him for a longer time, and adjusting his contract accordingly."

Todt added: "We are working on tying him to the club as long as possible"
