Ruud van Nistelrooy lands Premier League job! Man Utd legend set to be named Leicester boss after Steve Cooper sacking as Dutchman is rewarded for successful interim spell at Old Trafford

Per the Daily Telegraph, Van Nistelrooy is set to be named Leicester City manager after the club sacked Steve Cooper. The Dutchman has been involved in lengthy negotiations with the Foxes and is now poised to be appointed, potentially before their next fixture, which comes against Brentford this weekend.

Van Nistelrooy is available for no compensation after being removed from the United staff by Ruben Amorim. The former United striker led the Red Devils to two wins over Leicester during his interim spell, after Erik ten Hag left, beating them in both the Carabao Cup and the Premier League.

The 48-year-old previously worked as PSV Eindhoven manager in the Netherlands, winning the KNVB Cup at the end of the 2022-23 season. He was overlooked for the permanent United role, and will now have to drag the Foxes out of trouble. They sit 16th in the Premier League and are just one point clear of the relegation zone.

Leicester face Brentford this weekend before a midweek clash with West Ham. As mentioned, Van Nistelrooy could be in charge in time to manage the team in both games.
