Getty ImagesTHE BIGGER PICTURE
This comes from a report from Sky Sportin Germany, who claim that the Bundesliga club has renewed its interest in the versatile Portuguese defender, who was close to joining Dortmund last season. At the time, a deal was reportedly agreed upon, but the transfer ultimately fell through. Veiga remained with Chelsea before being loaned out to Juventus in January. Now, with Dortmund facing renewed defensive concerns, Veiga's name has resurfaced on the club’s radar. The 22-year-old left-footed centre-back can also operate as a defensive midfielder and as a left-back.

Dortmund are actively looking for alternatives and have expressed interest in signing Argentine prospect Juan Gimenez from Rosario Central. The 19-year-old is believed to be available for a fee between €5-8 million (£4-7m/$6-9.5m). On the other hand, Veiga has found himself on the radar of Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid.
