Revealed: How Real Madrid plan to convince Kylian Mbappe to accept wage cut ahead of potential summer switch from PSG

Mbappe has reportedly brought to an end one of the most long-winded transfer sagas of all time, choosing to leave PSG to join Real as a free agent at the end of the season. However, to do so, he will have to take a pay cut, as the Spanish club are not willing to smash their wage structure and match his current €25m (£21m) net salary. That equates to roughly £411,000-per-week, and instead, Real are ready to offer him a huge signing on fee worth €100m (£85m) plus further bonuses, per the Daily Mail.

Madrid usually take 50 per cent of image rights for their top players but are said to be willing to give Mbappe a 60/40 split instead, as they are desperate to secure a player they have been chasing since 2017. Of course, it seemed set that the World Cup winner would be moving to Spain last summer but he pulled a shock U-turn and signed a new deal at PSG instead.

Mbappe has an utterly incredible record at PSG, as he has scored 241 goals and registered 105 assists in 288 games. He has never won the Champions League, though, and that dream may move closer if he is willing to move to Spain and link up with the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

Reports suggest he could announce his decision to move to Real as soon as next week. In the meantime, PSG are next in action against Brest in the French Cup on Tuesday.
