Real Madrid flop in line for surprise move to Getafe on free transfer after AC Milan departure

Former Real Madrid man Jovic’s contract with Milan expired at the end of the season and Getafe have emerged as a potential destination. However, AS reports the club would need to offload players to afford his €3 million salary demands. Getafe could look to offload strikers Borja Mayoral and Christantus Uche to create room in the budget and the squad.

The striker, who started only six Serie A games last season, was not considered a part of the future project at Milan and his contract was not renewed. Taking advantage of the situation, Mexican side Cruz Azul made a lucrative offer to bring him to Liga MX. Jovic even spoke with Milan team-mate and Mexican international Santiago Gimenez to learn more about the club.

Getafe had a loan agreement in place with Madrid for striker Gonzalo García ahead of the Club World Cup, but his standout performances have convinced Madrid to retain him as a backup option for Kylian Mbappe.

Getafe will look to move on Mayoral and Uche so that they can accommodate Jovic. The Serbian meanwhile will want to assess all his options on the table meanwhile before choosing the next step of his career.
