Man City lead race to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest as club draw up succession plans for departing Kevin De Bruyne this summer

De Bruyne is set to depart City this summer after nine years with the eight-time Premier League champions, and Pep Guardiola's side are looking for a replacement. Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz has been discussed as the first option for the Citizens, however, they are now leading the race for another star.

Forest's Gibbs-White has been on top form for Nuno Espirito Santo's side as they battle for Champions League qualification. As per The Daily Mail, City have shown interest in Gibbs-White as a replacement for De Bruyne, and they also lead the race to sign the England international, with Liverpool and Manchester United also interested.

City could have a trump card on their hands in the bid to sign Gibbs-White, as the Forest star is close friends with Phil Foden. Gibbs-White is also the godfather to Foden's son, Ronnie.

Forest are fighting for the Champions League spots this season, and Gibbs-White will play a major role for the side until the end of the season before he decides what to do with his future.
