  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Seen sporting a thick puffer jacket and a snood to cover much of his face, Palmer was virtually incognito as he enjoyed watching a game from pitch side for once. The Chelsea star, absent from England's Nations League fixtures through an injury picked up prior to the break, is attempting to recover in time for Chelsea's clash with Leicester on November 23rd.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

With much being made of nine England players, including Palmer, pulling out of the England squad ahead of their Nations League clash with Greece, the various missing individuals have been under intense scrutiny in recent days. However, the Chelsea star seems to have a more legitimate excuse than most.

The fact he had picked up an injury ahead of Chelsea's game against Arsenal was public knowledge, and while Palmer started that game, he rarely looked himself, and it seemed that the injury was hampering his play style. Taking time off to focus on his recovery, Palmer clearly had a free Saturday in the diary, and decided to make the journey to Stockport's Edgeley Park on Saturday.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Palmer has seven goals and five assists in 13 games in all competitions this year, maintaining his excellent form from last season.

WHAT NEXT FOR PALMER AND CHELSEA?

With Chelsea currently sitting in third in the Premier League, level on points with Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Brighton, Palmer will be desperate to play a big part in Chelsea's game against Leicester City next weekend, as they look to keep the chasing pack behind them at arm's reach. Chelsea fans will have their fingers crossed that he has recovered sufficiently from injury to have a say in the final result.
