Alejandro Zendejas is having a career-year in Liga MX this season, so his exclusion from the U.S.'s Nations League squad was certainly a surprise. Count his club manager Andre Jardine among those who were sympathetic towards the forward following the snub.
“Obviously, those who were hoping to be in the national team might be a bit sad," the Club America manager said.
Jardine hopes his leading player will use the omission as motivation ahead of his club's big rivalry match against Chivas.
"The motivation for a match like the one we're going to play tomorrow is the biggest any player could have," he said.
Zendejas is in the midst of a five-goal, four-assist season so far after just eight appearances for Las Águilas. The club currently sits second in Liga MX.
