Christopher Nkunku tug of war! RB Leipzig capitalise on Bayern Munich hesitation to swoop in for unwanted Chelsea attacker

RB Leipzig have stepped up their pursuit of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea as the French attacker is keen on reuniting with his former club this summer. Both Chelsea and Nkunku are looking for a permanent transfer for the player, who has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer. Nkunku also has offers from Bayern Munich and clubs in Italy and England.

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to The Athletic, Leipzig are stepping up their efforts to bring back Nkunku from the Blues after the Frenchman fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have been in talks with the Bundesliga club on a separate transfer of Xavi Simons, as the Dutchman only wants a move to the West London club.

    The report adds that Leipzig are not close to finalising a deal for Nkunku, whom Chelsea values at €50million (£43.2m/$58.2m). Both the Premier League side and the French attacker want a permanent transfer and put an end to his misery at Stamford Bridge.

    If Chelsea cannot sell Nkunku this summer, that could jeopardise their move for Manchester United outcast Alejandro Garnacho. United are said to want at least £50m for the 21-year-old, who only wants to join the Blues before the transfer window shuts on September 1.
