  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea are notoriously big spenders in the transfer market but will take a more reserved approach ahead of the January window. Their long-standing interest in Osimhen has never materialised into anything, but it seems they may finally be ready to walk away from the Nigerian striker. According to reports, the only way they may dip into the market for a striker is if Christopher Nkunku is sold in the coming months, freeing up funds and space for a replacement.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Additionally, injuries must always be accounted for. Chelsea have the money but are content to operate with what they have, including an in-form Nicolas Jackson. But should the former Villarreal man pick up a knock, Enzo Maresca may want to bring in a ready-made replacement as the Blues look to keep pace with Liverpool in the Premier League.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Chelsea have only lost twice in the Premier League this season, marking an impressive start for Maresca. Should they win in the top flight this weekend and Manchester City taste defeat at Anfield, they will move into second, a position they have not occupied in a long time.
