Chelsea star Raheem Sterling to have panic room built in new house after rise in break-ins at footballers' homes

According to The Sun, the England international plans to build the shelter in his Berkshire property, with a security gatehouse and secure phone lines. The 29-year-old is reportedly being extra cautious after his Surrey home was burgled while he was away on World Cup duty in December 2022.

Sterling is not alone in having his house raided in the past couple of years as Jack Grealish's property was burgled, along with West Ham's Kurt Zouma, former Manchester United man Jesse Lingard and Newcastle United's Joelinton.

The break-in on Sterling's home happened shortly before his fiancée Paige Milian arrived back at the house with their two children to find the place had been ransacked. The burglars stole jewellery, watches, and more.

Away from off-field matters, Sterling's Chelsea have the chance to win some much-needed silverware when they take on high-flying Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
