Napoli begin the defence of their Scudetto this weekend with a tricky opening assignment away to newly-promoted Sassuolo on Saturday night.
Antonio Conte guided the Partenopei to glory in dramatic fashion last May, clinching the Serie A crown on the final day. With several fresh faces bolstering the squad over the summer, the reigning champions are now eyeing a third league title in just four seasons.
Sassuolo, meanwhile, return to the top flight at the first time of asking after storming to the Serie B title under Fabio Grosso. The 2006 World Cup winner kept hold of key players following relegation and steered the Neroverdi six points clear of Pisa at the summit. After back-to-back pre-season draws with Empoli and Brest, they kicked off their campaign properly by edging Catanzaro 1-0 in the Coppa Italia.

Team news & squads
Sassuolo team news
Sassuolo leaned heavily on Armand Lauriente, who hit 18 goals in Serie B. Despite transfer links over the summer, the French winger looks set to stay and will once again link up with Domenico Berardi and Andrea Pinamonti in Grosso’s forward line.
Between the sticks, new signings Stefano Turati and Arijanet Muric are battling for the starting shirt. Elsewhere, loanees such as Torino defender Sebastian Walukiewicz, Como forward Alieu Fadera, and Marseille midfielder Ismael Kone give Grosso fresh options. It was another new arrival, Scotland’s Josh Doig, who sealed last week’s cup victory with the decisive goal.
SSC Napoli team news
Napoli's summer recruits are set to take centre stage. Kevin De Bruyne should slot straight into midfield, Sam Beukema strengthens the backline, while 6ft 7in striker Lorenzo Lucca is expected to spearhead the attack. With Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone both departing and Romelu Lukaku sidelined by a thigh injury suffered in pre-season, Lucca will carry the burden up front.
The arrival of De Bruyne could see Scott McTominay's role slightly tweaked, but the Scottish midfielder remains a heartbeat of Conte's engine room alongside Frank Anguissa and Stanislav Lobotka.
