Newcastle United’s summer transfer window has hit a significant snag after three transfer bids, amounting to a combined £120 million ($165m), were rejected. The Magpies, eager to bolster their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League, had targeted Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Joao Pedro, and Burnley’s James Trafford. However, none of their initial offers have succeeded.

Newcastle United have stepped up their efforts to secure the services of Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga, lodging a substantial £55 million (€64m/$75m) offer for the 23-year-old. The bid comes after Aston Villa also joined the chase for the Swedish international, adding competition for the Magpies, in what could become one of the most fiercely contested transfer sagas of the summer.

Arsenal have lodged an initial bid for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, worth around £50 million ($68m) including add-ons.

Tottenham have officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, for a fee of £55 million ($75m).

Anthony Elanga, Newcastle United's new £55 million ($74m) recruit from Nottingham Forest, has expressed his admiration for international team-mate Alexander Isak, labelling the striker among the world’s elite. However, Elanga also made it clear that speculation surrounding Isak’s future at St James Park is part and parcel of being a top player, referring to the transfer chatter as little more than “noise.”
