Barcelona's La Liga campaign continues this weekend as they make the trip to the capital to take on Rayo Vallecano in matchweek three.
The defending champions have made a perfect start, collecting six points from their opening two outings to sit second in the standings, while Rayo occupy eighth place after splitting their first two fixtures.
Interestingly, this clash mirrors last season’s calendar, when Barça edged out Rayo 2-1 at the same stage of the campaign.

Team news & squads
Rayo Vallecano team news
The hosts will be without Abdul Mumin and Nobel Mendy, both nursing injuries, though otherwise, Andoni Iraola’s side head into the tie with a clean bill of health. Thursday’s European action means a reshuffle is expected, with Álvaro García pushing for a start after bagging a brace from the bench in midweek.
Jorge de Frutos, who also found the net as a substitute, is tipped to lead the line, while the likes of Andrei Ratiu, Pathe Ciss, and Isi Palazon are set to return to the XI.
Barcelona team news
As for Barcelona, Marc-Andre ter Stegen remains sidelined after back surgery, but the rest of the squad is in fine shape. Robert Lewandowski continues to be eased back following a hamstring setback, so in-form Ferran Torres should once again spearhead the attack after impressing in the early weeks.
There could also be three changes from the team that started against Levante, with Jules Kounde, Frenkie de Jong, and Dani Olmo all in line for recalls. De Jong was absent last time out following the birth of his second child, but after a full week of training, the Dutchman is expected to slot straight back into midfield for the trip to Madrid.
