Getty Images SportPostecoglou had a fantastic start to life with Tottenham Hotspur in the 2023/24 season as he led the Lilywhites to a 10-game unbeaten start in the Premier League, however, the Australian has not had the best time since as injuries and inconsistency in performances have left his job under threat with a sack potentially on the line after the North London side's 3-2 loss to David Moyes' relegation-battling Everton. Fans have now had enough of the Australian's failure to improve the situation.
Tottenham fan @owenthfc__ said on X: "Yeah f*ck off Ange Postecoglou I hope your belongings are being chucked out of your office as we speak."
X user @ben_bowman_ added: "I think Ange is gone after this I’ll be honest, this is shambolic. I’ve defended him a lot and I’ve believed he could be the guy, I’m not going to be the guy screaming from the rooftops to sack him, but if he’s gone I don’t think I’ll be complaining. Sorry state of affairs."
@JamesCHarris97 said: "We all fell in love with the idea of Ange. It felt like the perfect tonic after years of unwatchable football. But it’s mid-January and for the first time in my memory, I’m genuinely fearful of relegation. Never, ever thought I’d see that."
@CraigxMitch added: "Ange Postecoglu is one of the biggest frauds I have ever seen in football... I knew he was 4 months ago but he’s hit lows I didn’t think was possible."
@AliCampbell90 summarized: "I really like Ange, it’s not all his fault, but ultimately you are at risk of getting sacked as a football manager if you lose every single football match"
Sky Sports pundit Jamie O'Hara aired his belief that Postecoglou could be sacked in the next few hours as he looks unlikely to be able to 'sort' things out at Tottenham Hotspur. O'Hara said: "Big Ange is in big trouble. I understand there are injuries and youngsters, but there are good players in this team. Where are the leaders? This isn't good enough. The buck stops with the manager and this isn't good enough."
"I think he is on the brink, l think he is on the edge. He could go tonight. I don't think Ange is going to change, I don't think he is going to sort this out. You can't keep a manager because he won a Carabao Cup semi-final 1-0. I don't understand why Ange has got so much credit in the bank."
AFPAfter their defeat to Everton, Tottenham Hotspur are now only eight points clear of 17th-place Ipswich Town and 18th-placed Wolves with both sides having a game in hand over the North London side. As such, it is highly likely that co-owner Daniel Levy and the Spurs board may make the decision to part ways with the Australian coach this January to avoid slipping further down the table.
The Lilywhites have not struggled as much in the Europa League as they have in the Premier League, however, there is a high possibility that Tottenham will not have Postecoglou on the sidelines when they face Hoffenheim on Thursday, January 23 in the Europa League league stages.
