Nervous moment awaits former Thika United skipper Dennis Odhiambo

A nervous moment awaits former Thika United captain Dennis Odhiambo as he begins a new life with Sofapaka.

Odhiambo, who walked to the Kenyan Premier League right after high school, 10 years ago, has never turned up for any other club apart from the milk vendors which he joined from the Manor House.

Odhiambo signed a two year deal with Sofapaka after ten years of illustrious career with Thika United. Despite the dearth of KPL experience with another club other Thika United, the utility player believes that joining Sofapaka, the 2017 league runners-up, would offer a new challenge for him, but he was more than ready for the challenge.

“It’s going to be a good challenge for me because I have never played for any other team apart from Thika United who picked my from School Games a decade ago while I was playing for Manor House,” Odhiambo told the club's official website.

Odhiambo will have to fight for a starting place against Rodgers Aloro, Humphrey Okoti, Willis Ouma and Yusuf Mohammed.

“At Thika, I used to play as either a holding midfielder or left fullback and at national team Harambee Stars I play as a left fullback, however, I can play at any position the coach wants me to play and I will give it my best.’

Sofapaka will host Mathare United on Sunday in Naro and if selected, Odhiambo will write a new leaf on his playing career when he turns out for his second club in KPL.
