I-League 2017-18: Shillong Lajong boss Bobby Nongbet desperate for three points against Chennai City

With his side seven points behind leaders East Bengal currently, Shillong Lajong coach Bobby Nongbet said he was desperate for the three points in their upcoming home encounter against Chennai City.

"We are looking forward for three points desperately in this game against Chennai City who have been doing very well in the last few games, especially after beating Mohun Bagan,” he said at the pre-match press conference.

The Lajong tactician was wary of Friday’s opponents but hoped his side would have a stronger 2018.

“We understand that the game is not going to be easy but we know that we have to work very hard to gain those three points. We are determined and the team would be different altogether and much stronger in 2018,” Nongbet stated.

His opposite counterpart Soundarajan, on the other hand, said his side would hope to take the confidence from their away victory at Mohun Bagan into the game.

“I was really happy with the performance of the players in our last match against Mohun Bagan. After beating Mohun Bagan we don’t want to lose a match now,” the Chennai City boss said.

The tactician said the altitude at Shillong and weariness could be a factor on Friday but expressed confidence in his players standing up to the challenge.

“We are ready to take up the challenge even though we are a little bit tired and also because of the climate condition here in Shillong. Mohun Bagan is a great club and after beating them we are having more confidence now," Soundarajan said.
