Akwa United out end to Enugu Rangers' dominance - Pyagbara

Akwa United are ready to end the dominance of Enugu Rangers in Sunday's season-opening clash, according to striker Christian Pyagbara.

The Promise Keepers are seeking their first victory over the Flying Antelopes in the last three seasons. And Pyagbara is upbeat that with the sort of preparation they have had, coupled with the calibre of players they signed, they are ready to begin the 2017-18 campaign on a winning note.

“We have the best of pre-season activities and we are good to go against Enugu Rangers. It is expected that we grab the three points against them. We had a good pre-season and signed many quality players too,” Pyagbara told Goal.

“We are ready for them. They got four points off us last season and even beat us at home two seasons ago. We will like to beat them this term because we have suffered in their hands in the last three years or thereabouts.

“We have the players to get the job done and our technical crew is among the best in the country. Rangers will have their hands full by the time they face us on Sunday.”

The former Sharks and Enyimba attacker also disclosed that he would like to score as many goals as possible this season.

“It is expected of me to score as many goals as possible. It is my desire to get goals too. I hope to put myself in scoring position to ensure that I am among the leading scorers in the league.

“I will continue to push myself in all ramifications to ensure that I achieve my targets,” he added.
