How to watch today's Chicago Stars vs Portland Thorns NWSL game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

Chicago Stars FC (2-9-8, 14 pts) welcome Portland Thorns FC (8-6-5, 29 pts) to SeatGeek Stadium on Sunday in a matchup that feels worlds apart from their last meeting.

Though the two sides faced off just six matchdays ago, a lengthy two-month gap, stretched by the NWSL break, has created a completely different backdrop. Back on June 21, Chicago was trudging along at 1-9-3, while Portland looked far more polished at 6-3-4. Fast forward to now, and the script has flipped. The Stars haven't tasted defeat since returning, piecing together a 1-0-5 run, while the Thorns have wobbled a bit at 2-3-1. Portland still edged that earlier clash 1-0, but it came against a shorthanded Chicago side missing its starting goalkeeper.

The Stars, though, are beginning to show real life. Last weekend on the lakefront, they turned SeatGeek into a party in front of a season-best 10,127 fans. The energy was buzzing through a scoreless first half before Chicago lit the place up, rattling off five second-half goals, all from different scorers, to stun defending champions Orlando Pride 5-2. For a team that’s spent much of the season struggling to find its feet, it was the kind of night that can turn into a rallying point.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch, including TV channel, streaming details and more.

Chicago Stars team news

The Chicago Stars turned SeatGeek into a festival against Orlando Pride, delivering a second-half blitz that saw seven goals fly in between the two sides.

With five different players getting on the scoresheet, Chicago turned the night into a celebration at their new home. In doing so, they etched their name into the history books, becoming just the third club in NWSL history to net five or more goals in a single half.

Ludmila continues to be the heartbeat of their attack, climbing to third in the Golden Boot race with 10 goals, six of them coming in just her last four outings. The Stars' resurgence is no fluke either, unbeaten in their last six matches (1-5-0) and with only one defeat in their past nine, much of the credit goes to assistant coach Ella Masar, whose leadership has sparked fresh belief and cohesion in the squad.

That Orlando triumph marked just their third away victory of the season, but easily the most impressive of the bunch.

Portland Thorns team news

Elsewhere, Racing Louisville dominated Portland Thorns in nearly every key area, except the one that counts most: the scoreline. The Thorns remain riddled with defensive worries, conceding 10 goals in six games since the break, shipping two or more in four of those, and still searching for their first clean sheet in that stretch. They've also been on the wrong end of the expected goals tally in four straight matches.
