  • WHAT HAPPENED?

With Barcelona not playing in the Club World Cup, their 17-year-old starlet has been able to relish a decent break from the game, eating pizza, drinking Fanta, enjoying the sunshine, and posing in a garish pink trainer and snapback combo.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Yamal certainly earned his holiday, registering a breathtaking 2024-25 season with 21 goals and 25 assists in all competitions, plus a first La Liga title and two other domestic cup triumphs in the Copa Del Rey and Supercopa de Espana. Given those achievements, it's hardly surprising that Barca have let the precocious teenager hit "full vacay mode" during his off-season.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Yamal turns 18 on July 13 and is set to mark his birthday by signing a huge new deal with his boyhood club. After cementing his place as a crucial Barca starter and one of the best players in Europe last season, the wonderkid La Masia graduate is reportedly set to step up to an eye-watering €15 million (£12.5m/$17m) base salary per season, rising to a potential €20m (£17m/$23m) with bonuses.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR YAMAL?

With that new deal comes new responsibility, and if Barca are to successfully defend their La Liga title, they will need to rely on many more impressive contributions from the 18-year-old next term. Yamal's record to date shows he's more than capable of producing consistently at the highest level, but 2025-26 will be crucial for his future progress.
