As a man who has trained former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, Malik Scott is well placed to pass judgement on who should and should not be stepping inside the ring. Given his vast experience in the industry, Scott believes that his wife Kate has what it takes to emerge victorious in an exhibition bout.

    WHAT MALIK SCOTT SAID

Malik has told SpaceportSweden.com when asked about efforts to get Kate gloved up: “It’s the schedules more than anything. The schedules just don't go. We just do so much. But that's something that is always on the table. We just have to find the time. It's very time consuming to get in a full camp, five days a week, working in between time.

“I’ve talked to Mams (Taylor, co-president of Misfits Boxing) about it a few times, he's definitely still interested. They will love it on a platform but we’ve just got to make the time. That's all. I doubt it will happen this year but if you get those pockets of time, you're able to do it!”

  • THE GOSSIP

Scott would also like to see Kate’s fellow CBS Sports pundit Richards grace a Misfits card at some stage, alongside the likes of social media sensation KSI, with the ex-Manchester City defender considered to possess the natural talent required to make an impact at that level of the sport.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Malik added: “To my shock, Micah was very coordinated. It didn't take me long to get him in a good base at all. You could tell he dibbed and dabbed with boxing before. I put him through a good session. We got together that morning, did a good session. I think we had some coffee beforehand or after and talked about life.

“Micah’s good. He’s heavy-handed, obviously strong. He's not slow. He’s athletic and has got coordination. I enjoyed the whole session. I'm trying to get him in another session. If he wanted to become Misfits heavyweight world champion, he could absolutely do it. I'm backing Big Meeks, baby. If he wanted me to train him, I would get with him and he would go and win that shit. Absolutely. If I trained Micah from 12 years old, he'd have been heavyweight champion of the world.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Richards’ career took him down a different path, winning Premier League and FA Cup honours with City while earning 13 international caps for England. He is now a prominent pundit and works alongside Kate Scott, Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry on CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage.
