Al Nassr and the Saudi Football Federation argued they had completed every necessary preparation, including flight permits and accommodation, and the federation issued a formal statement backing the club's right to pursue legal remedies. A Saudi football lawyer publicly criticised the federation's response as insufficient, arguing Al Wasl should be treated as having withdrawn under tournament regulations. AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa confirmed the matter remains under review.

With the league visit of Al Kholood next on 29 October, Al Nassr need to maintain their domestic momentum while the Asian situation remains unresolved.
