Brentford kick off their home campaign in the 2025-26 Premier League on Saturday when Aston Villa roll into the Gtech Community Stadium.
It’s been anything but a smooth start for Keith Andrew's side, with the Bees bracing themselves for another major setback as Yoane Wissa edges closer to the exit door, following the summer departures of Christian Norgaard and Bryan Mbeumo. On the pitch, Brentford stumbled out of the blocks last weekend, falling 3-1 away at Nottingham Forest, leaving plenty of questions to answer in front of their own supporters.
Villa, meanwhile, arrive still searching for their first victory of the season after playing out a cagey stalemate with Newcastle on opening day. Unai Emery's men will be itching to shift gears and put their first three points on the board in West London.

Team news & squads
Brentford team news
Bees head coach Keith Andrews has stepped up from assistant to take the reins at Brentford, but his early days in charge are already proving complicated. With Yoane Wissa pushing for a move as the transfer window ticks down, the new manager will be without one of his key attacking outlets just as the season begins to take shape. It has the makings of a long and testing campaign for a side that, in many ways, is paying the price for its own past success.
Wissa appears set to be the next big name out the door, yet the Bees haven’t stood still in the market. They splashed out on Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth, a signing that promises to inject fresh energy into the forward line. The backbone of a squad that has consistently punched above its weight remains intact, but with so many senior figures and difference-makers gone, optimism feels in short supply around the Gtech.
There was at least one bright spot last weekend, with Igor Thiago finding the net at Forest. Having endured an injury-hit campaign last year, the Brazilian could prove pivotal if he can stay fit and rediscover his rhythm.
Injury-wise, Andrews will also be sweating over absentees: Gustavo Nunes (thigh), Vitaly Janelt (ankle), Ethan Pinnock (knock), and Paris Maghoma (unspecified issue) are all sidelined heading into the weekend.
Aston Villa team news
Emiliano Martínez returns from suspension to hand Villa a timely lift, while Pau Torres is expected to slot into central defense with Ezri Konsa sidelined. Villa’s attacking rhythm looked disjointed in the goalless draw with Newcastle, with Ollie Watkins often left isolated up front. Having parted ways with Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey in the past week, Unai Emery's side seem to be reshaping their options and could yet dip into the market for another forward.
Konsa begins the first of a three-game ban after his red card against Newcastle, leaving a hole at the back. Andres García also misses out with a knock, while Ross Barkley remains a slight doubt as he nurses a minor issue.
