Nicklas Bendtner witnessed friend get stabbed in New York as ex-Arsenal star confirms he's in CCTV footage

CCTV footage shows the ex-Denmark forward and two friends walking through Manhattan last Wednesday just seconds before a knifeman approaches them. One of Bendtner's group was stabbed and rushed to hospital, with the 55-year-old treated for face and ear injuries. Now, Bendtner has had his say on the incident.

He told Ekstra Bladet: "Yes, I can confirm that it is me in the video. Could it have been me who was attacked? I have no comment about that. But I can confirm that it's me on the video - it's hard to run away from."

Reports state the culprit was later arrested and charged with attempted murder and assault. The suspect was later named by police as 25-year-old Joshua Zinberg, of New York, who allegedly suffers from mental health issues.

Bendtner, who also had spells at Birmingham City, Sunderland, Juventus, and more, may have to appear in court in the future if this goes to a trial.
