Lamine Yamal takes inspiration from Diego Maradona with Barcelona wonderkid confirming he will follow in Argentine hero and Lionel Messi's footsteps by taking on iconic No. 10 jersey

Yamal dropped a major hint on his next shirt number with a social media post that suggested Argentina and Barcelona legend Maradona's inspirational role in him adopting the Blaugrana's iconic No 10 shirt.

Following Messi's exit from Camp Nou in 2021, Fati inherited the number 10 shirt. The youngster, however, failed to live up to the promise and is now all set to exit the club and join Monaco. With Fati's departure, Yamal will now take the legendary number, which was also previously worn by Ronaldino, Juan Roman Riquelme, Rivaldo, Romario and Hristo Stoichkov. The Catalan giants are set to unveil their new kit in the coming week.

Yamal had yet another memorable outing with the Blaugrana in the 2024-25 campaign as he contributed with 18 goals and 25 assists as the club won the domestic treble.

Barca are supposed to hold a special event for Yamal's 18th birthday in July and will announce him as the new No. 10 when that takes place, although, as his birthday falls on a holiday, it is not yet known when it will go ahead.
