'I'm good at them' - Lindelof offers to take free-kicks for Man Utd

Victor Lindelof believes his ability from set-pieces could help him to start repaying Manchester United’s €35 million investment in his talent.

The Sweden international has completed a big-money move from Benfica to become Jose Mourinho’s first signing of the 2017 summer transfer window.

He has been acquired to further bolster the defensive ranks at Old Trafford, with the 22-year-old considered to be a shrewd acquisition for the present and future.

Lindelof is about much more than merely keeping opponents quiet, though, and already has his eye on free-kick duty – having shown at Benfica that he is capable of producing the spectacular.

“I’m quite good at them so if I get an opportunity to take a free-kick, I think I’ll be there,” he told MUTV.

'Joining Man Utd was an easy decision'

United already have plenty of options at dead-ball situations, with the likes of Juan Mata, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford on their books.

Lindelof will, however, add to the threat posed from set-pieces and could follow in the footsteps of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo by becoming a free-kick specialist at Old Trafford.

He already has one stunning effort on his CV, with the strike in the video above helping Benfica to a draw with arch-rivals Sporting.

If he can produce something similar at United, then the 22-year-old will be become another useful asset for the club at both ends of the field.
