    Head-to-head and recent form

This is the first time ever for Amakhosi and AS Simba to face each other in any competition.

Chiefs arrived in Lubumbashi licking their wounds from the Carling Knockout  First Round exit after being knocked out by Stellenbosch FC.

That leaves coached Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef with a challenge to uplift their players psychologically and not allow the Stellenbosch result to weigh them down.

Their opponents, Simba, beat Djabal Club d’Iconi from the Comoros 3-0 on aggregate in the first preliminary round.
