Mamelodi Sundowns star Jeremy Brockie hungry for more goals after breaking duck

The Masandawana forward reveals he wants more goals, and is confident he can add more when they meet the Buccaneers

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Jeremy Brockie is hoping to start against Orlando Pirates in the eagerly awaited Premier Soccer League (PSL) match on Saturday.

The first meeting between the two giants this season is expected to produce goals galore as both are fresh from midweek wins in the league, but the focus is on the New Zealander who finally broke his duck in the win over Free State Stars

“On Monday when I found out I was starting, I felt quite confident and told a few people that I think I’m going to break the ice,” Brockie said to the media.

“And what better way to do it than setting up a nice volley for me to put in the back of the net,” he added.

The reigning PSL champions overcame Free State Stars 3-1 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, courtesy of a Brockie strike and two Gaston Sirino goals on Wednesday night.

It was not only Brockie's first official goal in Sundowns colours but also his first in over a year.

“The hardest part is mentally trying to deal with it. Ever since I arrived in the country I’ve scored goals consistently and then I got the move that I wanted to Sundowns,” he continued.

“I knew it was going to be difficult but I thought I would have adapted a little bit quicker,” he said.

Speaking about the match set to be staged at the same venue, the former SuperSport United striker added that he hopes to continue to find the back of the net.

“I definitely want more. I feel very good for Saturday. I think now that the first one’s out of the way in a competitive game, hopefully they start free flowing and keep myself in the starting XI and help the team to the top of the table where they should be,” he concluded.
