Kayode makes Primera Division bow

Nigerian attacker Olerenwaju Kayode made his Primera Division bow for Girona in their 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid on Saturday.

The 24-year-old, who is on loan to the La Liga new comers from Manchester City, was brought on for the final six minutes as Blanquivermell conceded two late goals to give up a 2-0 lead.

Girona looked set to enjoy a dream top-flight debut but Atleti demonstrated their remarkable team spirit to come roaring back with a man down - after Antoine Griezmann had been sent off for the first time in his career- to draw 2-2 at Estadi Municipal de Montilivi.

The Ibadan-born marksman nearly grabbed the headlines with a stoppage time winner but his stunning diving header at the near post was equally matched by Jan Oblak in Atleti's goals.

Kayode scored 17 goals for Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga goals last season before his £3.5 million move to City.

He is the only Super Eagles international currently playing in the Spanish top-flight.
