Juventus v Real Madrid Betting: Both giants set to draw blood in fitting final

The champions of Spain meet the champions of Italy for the chance to be crowned champions of Europe and the climax of the continent's premier club competitions feels like a fitting finale.

There can be little doubt that these two sides have been the best teams in the tournament, and Saturday's showpiece in Cardiff has bred a great deal of expectation.

The subplots to the tie are plentiful, from Gigi Buffon's last chance to win the only medal that elludes him, to Real Madrid aiming to become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League, and with Gareth Bale returning home and Gonzalo Higuain facing his former team, there is potential drama wherever you look.

In truth, it is difficult to pick a favorite between to evenly matches sides, although perhaps Real Madrid's superior record in finals is what gives them the edge. Los Blancos have triumphed in 11 of their previous 14 finals, with Juve successful in only two of the eight finals they have reached, and dabblebet offer the Spanish giants at 8/5 (2.60) to win in 90 minutes.

Juventus, for their part, can be backed at 15/8 (2.88) , with the draw offered 11/5 (3.20)

The Italians' defensive prowess has been well documented and their total of three goals conceded in 12 Champions League games this season is a testament to their stength at the back. That record will surely be tested, however, by the tournament's top scorers - not only have Madrid netted 32 times in the competition this term, they have also scored in each of their last 64 competitive fixtures.

Yet this game will be more than about Juventus trying to keep Madrid's attack at bay, with Massimiliano Allegri's side boasting one of their most impressive forward lines in recent years. Higuain, Dybala and Mandzukic will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet against a Real Madrid defence which has kept just one clean sheet during their current Champions League campaign and Juve are offered at 11/10 (2.10) to open the scoring.

This option could appeal, especially given the fact that Madrid conceded the first goal in five of their six matches in the knockout stages.

Given how strong Juve have been defensively this term, the natural temptation is to back a low-scoring game, with under 2.5 goals offered at just 8/13 (1.62) . However, there should be plenty of interest in the price of 19/20 (1.95) for both teams to score, a selection which has paid in out in 11 of Real Madrid's 12 games in the Champions League.

Monaco showed in the semi finals that Juve's defence is far from impregnable, and with some more clinical finishing the French champions could have scored more than the solitary goal they managed over the two legs.

Real Madrid have scored in their last five appearances in the final, while Juve's last showing in a final saw them lose to Barca 3-1 in 2015.

Furthermore, both teams to score has paid out in each of the last six Champions League finals and, going back a little further, in nine of the last 11. The last time these two sides met was in the semi-finals of this competition two years ago, where Juve triumphed on away goals, with both teams scoring in both legs.

History therefore points to goals at both ends when the two most successful teams in the history of Spanish and Italian football respectively meet on Saturday evening.
