ISL 2017-18: Jamshedpur FC's Steve Coppell - In March we will end where we deserve to end up

Jamshedpur FC are set to welcome NorthEast United FC in a vital Indian Super League (ISL) clash for their top-four hopes on Saturday at the JRD Tata Sports Complex.

Steve Coppell’smen currently lie in fourth spot in the league table with 22 points from their 14 games, just two points ahead of FC Goa who have two games in hand.

As such, Saturday’s clash will be important for the new entrants but the Englishman believes it would not be catastrophic to not get the win.

“We hope the good run of form continues. We have two home games, an away game and a half- home match remaining. Each and every game becomes vital in all matches at this stage. Our last four games were almost must win. It will be the same tomorrow. I would be great to win. If we don't win, it won't be the end of our ambitions,” the Jamshedpur tactician said.

Jamshepdur midfielder Sameehg Doutie has failed to get find much playing time in his side’s recent matches and Coppell attributed his absence to not wanting to disturb a winning combination.

“In last few games, there have been hamstring muscle strains for Doutie. We had good results so its difficult for him to get in. At this moment it’s difficult to change winning combination. I have faith in the team that we play. Currently players are playing well,” the former Manchester City coach explained.

23-year-old Sumeet Passi has not featured for the side this season and Coppell admitted that the current situation made it difficult for him to find a spot for the Indian forward.

“Passi is working hard to get his fitness. For an Indian forward it is difficult to get in the team as we have more foreign recruits there. Physically he is ready. He needs game to make him match fit. But I can't give him games as we have a good team,” Coppell stated.

The Jamshedpur boss was unwilling to look ahead to the semi-finals stage just yet and remained focused on his side’s upcoming clash.

“I don't foresee anything. I think about next game.  My philosophy is to win the next game. The planning and focus not only for me, but also the entire team, is on the next game. After tomorrow, next target is Chennaiyin. In March we will end where we deserve to end up,” Coppell said before concluding.
