Ghana Premier League board denies banning Elmina Sharks stadium

Ghana Premier League board has rejected reports of handing Elmina Sharks a ten-match stadium ban following supporters’ misconduct.

Sharks’ home game against Medeama in matchday eight ended in chaos when some fans invaded the pitch, hitting referee Nuhu Liman with an object, leading to his collapse, according to reports.

The case has been referred to the disciplinary committee, with the local media reporting a ruling of a stadium ban on Sharks, which the board has refuted.

“It’s not true that Elmina Sharks' stadium has been banned by the disciplinary committee," GPLB chief Tamimu told Ahomka FM.

"The committee has not even sat on the case. They are waiting for responses from both clubs involved in the issue so it’s not true they’ve been banned.

“It’s a ridiculous lie. There are statutory timeless both clubs must meet and they’ve not even exhausted that for the committee to adjudicate the matter. The deadlines have not been met yet so they can’t sit on it,” he added.

Sharks occupy sixth position on the log with 12 points after seven games and will host debutants Techiman Eleven Wonders on Saturday.
