Ex-Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr reveals why he joined Black Leopards of South Africa

Dylan Kerr has for the first time revealed why he settled for South African club Black Leopards.

The Englishman was on Tuesday unveiled to lead the PSL side, just a few days after resiging from his post at the Kenyan champions. Kerr took over from Joel Masutha, who resigned last weekend after his side lost 3-1 to Cape Town City.

Despite enjoying a good run with Gor Mahia, where he managed to win two leagues title during his 16-month reign - winning 51 matches, 16 draws and 12 defeats in 79 games, the Briton shocked many when he resigned.

However, Kerr has exclusively told Goal that his decision to join Black Leopards was a choice he made not on profile but 'on my football.’

“It is a new challenge you know, the challenge of helping a new team to avoid the axe and who knows what is going to happen but honestly speaking, I made a big choice not on profile but on my football.

“I watched my new team play against Polokwane City in a friendly on Tuesday and my main target now is to help them stay up in the PSL. It is a new chapter in my career but I know we can achieve that feat looking at the players, I watched because they are all ready to work hard and get positive results.”

Black Leopards, founded in 1983, won promotion to the top flight this season and are ranked at position 14 on the 16-team table with nine points.
