Betting: Wolverhampton Wanderers 400/1 to win the Premier League title after securing promotion

Brentford's last-gasp equaliser against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday night meant that Wolverhampton Wanderers were officially promoted to the Premier League.

Nuno Espírito Santo's side have racked up an impressive 95 points this term, scoring 78 goals in the process and could yet break the 100-point barrier given there are still three games of the regular season to go.

Despite an impressive effort from nearest challengers Cardiff City and a second half surge from Fulham, Wolves have been the best team in the division by some distance.

The bookmakers have assessed their credentials and there are few questions about their Premier League prospects from the odds compilers.

bet365 offer 400/1 (401.0) that Wolves win the title and while that may be too farfetched even for the staunchest fan to consider, the fact that the club are priced up as 5/1 (6.0) shots to be relegated shows how much respect the newly promoted side are being afforded.

Wolves have benefitted from an ongoing relationship with agent Jorge Mendes, the man who represents the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jose Mourinho and Angel Di Maria. The Portuguese has seemingly paved the way for some fantastic talents to play their football at Molineux in the past few months.

The permanent signings of Reuben Neves, Ivan Cavaleiro and Helder Costa this season were supplemented by eye-catching loan signings such as Diego Jota from Atletico Madrid.

This agreement between the two parties has no doubt helped to transform Wolves from a side who finished 14th and 15th in the two previous years into a force to be reckoned with in the second tier and potentially in the Premier League too, if the odds are to be believed.

Mendes is an advisor to Fosun - the company who purchased Wolverhampton Wanderers back in 2016 - and bookmakers clearly expect plenty more high-quality players to be arriving at Molineux this summer.

While several clubs and managers have publicly raised concerns over this relationship, Fosun insist that they have always complied with the necessary rules and regulations put in place by the Football Association and EFL.

If their promotion to the Premier League signals another raft of high-quality signings, which seems a logical conclusion, then Wolves could certainly be a team to keep an eye on next season.

bet365 go 20/1 (21.0) that the West Midlands club achieve a top six finish in 2018-19 and 7/4 (2.75) that Wolves finish in the top half of the Premier League table.
