Aduana coach Abubakar delighted with Bechem stalemate

Aduana Stars coach Yussif Abubakar has praised his players following their 1-1 stalemate against Bechem United in Ghana Premier League matchday 15 on Sunday.

Midfielder Zakaria Mumuni made sure the Fire Club did not leave Fosu Gyeabour Park empty handed, as his second-half strike cancelled Eric Owusu's first-half opener.

And the results mean that Aduana finished the first half of the season with only one defeat, eight victories and six draws.

“It’s a vital point for us because when you take a look at the league table, Wafa won on Saturday and there was the need for us to chase them with good results,” Abubakar said.

“We told ourselves that we must go for the three points and if we fail, we can get a point. I think it was very good game. I congratulate the players for what they did.”

He added: “We even planned to win that was why we started with the 4-2-3-1 system to put a lot of midfielders so they will do a lot of running with us and we know very well in the second half they will run out of stamina completely and that was exactly what they did.

“We did not intend to concede a goal. We had wanted to end the first half in a draw so that when we continue the second half we can come back strongly. Fortunately we were able to come back strongly.”

Aduana will host Bechem when the season resumes from the break.
