The 2021 FIFA Club World Cup kicked off on February 3, 2022, in UAE with six champion clubs from six confederations taking part in the tournament along with the national champions from the host nation.

In the first round, host nation's representatives Al Jazira thrashed Tahitian champions AS Pirae 4-1. In the second round, they'll face reigning AFC Champions League winners Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia.

UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea will begin their campaign on February 9 in the semifinal against the winners of the game between Al Jazira and Al Hilal.

Interestingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is the all-time highest goalscorer of the competition with seven goals in eight matches over four editions. Lionel Messi, on the other hand, has played in three editions where he appeared in five matches, scoring five goals.
