The former England international has found his feet in Asia after enduring a tricky start to life a long way outside of his comfort zone. Lingard headed to South Korea in February 2024 after spending several months as a free agent.

Lingard has become a useful source of goals for FC Seoul, with his latest effort helping them to a 1-1 draw with Ulsan. Having picked the ball up just inside the centre circle, the former United playmaker surged forward and drilled low into the bottom corner from 20 yards out.

He picked up early knocks in Seoul, limiting his opportunities to impress, but now fills the captain’s armband and is becoming the talismanic presence that his unquestionable ability always hinted at. End product is flowing for the 31-year-old on a regular basis.

FC Seoul have missed out on the K League title this season, but are on course to secure qualification for the AFC Champions League Two group stage for 2025 – with Lingard tied to a contract through to the end of the next campaign.
