    THE BIGGER PICTURE

It may be that Kilner waits until then before heading to Milan. Walker is still fighting to save his marriage after fathering two children out of wedlock with ex-Love Island contestant Lauryn Goodman. His behaviour continues to be carefully monitored.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

That is also the case on a professional level, with Walker explaining why he is unable to indulge in Italian food as often as he would like. The odd treat can be enjoyed, but room service and pizza are off the menu.

    WHAT KYLE WALKER SAID

Speaking on the Kyle Walker Podcast, the 34-year-old said: “You have to be disciplined. The food out here is amazing. The flavours... a piece of bread tastes good. The food at the training ground is incredible - I bring it back to the hotel, I am not getting room service. They did a pesto pasta today. The tomatoes are even nice here.

“We get weighed every day. Your weight can't change in a day. Even if you go out and have a big pizza or steak, it is not going to be drastically high so they ask 'what have you been doing?'.

“If you have two or three days off you have to be a little careful because the manager is very keen on keeping the lads' weight down. That is the way football is going. Every small detail matters.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Walker, who has been nursing an injury of late, returned to action for Milan off the bench in their 2-0 victory at Venezia. He has taken in 13 appearances for the Serie A giants across all competitions and will be hoping to help them to Coppa Italia glory on May 14.
