Jose Mourinho launches fresh conspiracy with 'VAR didn't see three penalties' claim as Fenerbahce crash out of Europa League to Rangers

Fenerbahce lost their Europa League round of 16 first-leg clash against Rangers at home in disappointing fashion at Ulker Stadium. However, Mourinho's side came back at Ibrox Stadium with a 2-0 win in regulation time before the game went into a penalty shootout but lost as Dusan Tadic, Fred and Mert Hakan Yandas missed their spot kicks.

Fenerbahce boss Mourinho has now raised claims of a conspiracy against his side as he claimed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) 'didn't see one of three penalties'. The Portuguese coach also hoped that the same was just a 'random' occurrence.

Speaking to the media, Mourinho said: "I hope everything that's happened to me in European competitions is not a consequence of the Budapest final and I hope it's just random.

"Since that final, since my suspension the things that happened to us - we didn't play Champions league because of a penalty on 120th minute penalty that only the fourth official saw.

"Today we come here and the VAR is considered one of the best VARs, he didn't see one of three penalties. I just hope it's random.

"I paid for the suspension and I hope that it's over. I pray that this is just bad luck."

One of the positives that come from Fenerbahce's Europa League clash is that they will now be able to focus on their Super Lig title battle against Galatasaray, who sit seven points clear of Mourinho's side, having played one game more.
