  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Manchester City are currently awaiting a verdict in their 115-charge FFP case, with it reported that they could be relegated, docked points or even stripped of their titles if found guilty. Liverpool finished as runners-up behind Manchester City twice under Klopp, in 2018-19 and again in 2021-22, and the German is already thinking about potential celebrations if Pep Guardiola's side lose their titles.

    WHAT KLOPP SAID

He told reporters: "We had this discussion when I left. I haven't spent a lot of time in Mallorca because I am always flying around the place. But if it would happen, I told all the people who wanted to [come]: 'Just book a flight to Mallorca. I will buy the beer!' We'd have our own parade in my garden. Oh God… what a headline! We will see. I didn’t follow (the narrative of the case) at all. It could be two months (away from a finding)? Wow."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Manchester City have always denied any wrongdoing but must continue to wait to discover their fate. It's been a difficult campaign for the Cityzens already in 2024-25, even before a verdict has been reached, with a slump in form meaning Guardiola's side have lost six times already in the Premier League. Another title charge now looks unlikely, as City are already 12 points behind leaders Liverpool and have played a game more.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

After stepping away from Liverpool at the end of last season, Klopp has recently ended his sabbatical to begin work as the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull.

    WHAT NEXT

Liverpool are currently leading the race for the 2024-25 Premier League title and will be aiming to win the trophy for the first time since Klopp ended the club's 30-year wait to be crowned champions of England in 2020. The Reds are back in action on Saturday in the top flight against Brentford.
