    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The former Liverpool striker reportedly had a meeting with Milan representatives to discuss the terms of termination of his contract. The Italian club have been paying around €5 million per year for Origi's services, a cost that they now look to take off the books. Having not reached an agreement on the severance package, a second round of talks will be held in the coming weeks. With Origi's early departure, the Italian club want to avoid wasting more money on players not part of the project.

Milan are running short of cash; the Italian club have been struggling financially due to FFP rules and dropping out of the top four in Serie A. For this reason, the club opted to sell Tijjani Reijnders and are further looking to manage the books with the sale of Rafael Leao. However, Tare has acknowledged a need for another striker in the team who is more traditional, penalty-box specialist.
