  • His agent slammed for transfer
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The 29-year-old ended his wait for a new team, following his release by Juventus, by joining Roberto De Zerbi's side on a two-year deal. The midfielder was linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Atletico Madrid but opted to join the Ligue 1 side. Now his mum, Veronique, has been slammed by fellow agent Bruno Satin for her "unbearable" attitude and not securing him a move to a bigger team.

    WHAT BRUNO SATIN SAID

He told RMC Sport: "It’s the result of the incompetence of the people who accompanied him there. He is advised by his mother and it shows that it is good to be accompanied by professionals because if he had been accompanied by a pro, he would be in a European top ten club and what’s more, he was free. The first thing is to get his opinion and find out what he wants to do. But it would be more interesting to ask him at the end of May because now [at the end of August], he has done the rounds of the market. To take a concrete example, I had the sporting director of Atletico Madrid at the end of July and he told me: I had two conversations with the mother and I stopped immediately because she explained to me where her son should play."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Top teams across Europe were credited with interest in Rabiot but in the end he has joined a side where he is likely to get regular football and as he approaches the age of 30, that is no bad thing. However, having an agent that is, allegedly, a bit too controlling is not ideal when it comes to securing a transfer.
