  • WHAT HAPPENED?

With Arsenal a goal down, Lewis-Skelly was initially booked for cynically bringing down West Ham's Mohammed Kudus, before it was upgraded to a red card on review. The left-back was heavily criticised on social media as a result and now many Gunners supporters believe they have handed the Premier League title to leaders Liverpool after this 1-0 loss.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

@Cazolarr wrote on X: "Lewis Skelly. So stupid. You can't keep trying to show "I'm a strong guy" every f*king time. Keep it simple and lay the ball to your teammate. Absolutely idiotic decision."

@akh1l_sol tweeted: "Ridiculous performance before this. MLS can have no complaints."

@NepentheZ commented: "Lewis-Skelly sent off....game over. prem pretty much all over now too. Shocking from us today."

@eeerik1 posted: "Lewis Skelly is insanely overrated second red card what a clown."

And @kampalasfinest0 added: "Lewis Skelly red card for him to stay humble."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lewis-Skelly is now suspended and Arsenal are eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool with just 12 games remaining. The Gunners will hope the Reds slip up at Manchester City on Sunday.
