A major rift has emerged between Premier League clubs as a selection of rivals push for a fresh investigation into Manchester City’s financial affairs. Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has tipped Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal to reach the legendary heights of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo over the coming decade. The 19-year-old Spain international has enjoyed a prolific start to the season, registering 13 goals and 11 assists across all competitions for the Catalan giants.
Alexis Mac Allister has revealed that Liverpool told him last season they had no plans to renew his contract, admitting the news was painful and unpleasant. The Argentina midfielder, whose deal runs until the summer of 2028, insists staying at Anfield is what he wants most and believes the recent changes behind the scenes mean anything can happen now.
Andoni Iraola has told Liverpool to kill Fenerbahce's confidence in Istanbul as they chase a fourth straight Champions League win. Crystal Palace have appealed against the straight red card Jean-Philippe Mateta received in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Tottenham. The France international faces a three-match ban for his studs-up challenge on Micky van de Ven, and losing him now would be a fresh blow for under-pressure Eagles boss Pierre Sage, with Liverpool visiting Selhurst Park on Sunday.
