VfB Stuttgart have reshaped their attack ahead of a demanding season on three fronts, completing the signing of Dzenan Pejcinovic from relegated Wolfsburg for €25 million. The 21-year-old becomes the second most expensive player in the club's history, behind only Deniz Undav, and arrives having scored 12 goals across all competitions last season. Stuttgart fended off late interest from RB Leipzig and a bid from FC Porto to secure his signature on a contract running until 2031.

The transfer closes a chapter that had tested the patience of head coach Sebastian Hoeneß. Speaking during pre-season, Hoeneß made his frustration clear, warning that time was running short to build a squad capable of competing in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League simultaneously. His public pressure echoed similar tensions from the previous summer, when Nick Woltemade's departure to Newcastle United left the squad short. With Pejcinovic now in place alongside Undav and Ermedin Demirovic, Hoeneß has genuine depth in attack for the first time this pre-season.

Demirovic himself has been the subject of transfer speculation, with Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly monitoring him and earlier reports linking him to Fenerbahce. Hoeneß dismissed those stories firmly, calling Demirovic one of the club's best players and stating his intention to keep him. Demirovic, whose contract runs to 2028, said he welcomes the competition from Pejcinovic and wants to contribute as many goals as possible this season.

Stuttgart beat Everton 3-1 in their most recent friendly and face Fulham next on August 15 as they continue their pre-season build-up before the Bundesliga campaign begins.
