The Senegalese international's timely return helps them as they aim to pair new signing Yeremy Pino, who brushed off an injury scare, to start alongside Mateta. Eddie Nketiah also provides another option as he made a cameo off the bench against the Hammers. Cheick Doucoure's unavailability means the standard double pivot of Will Hughes and Adam Wharton. Florian Wirtz will take up the number 10 role, leading to fluid rotations on the left with Isak. Alexis MacAllister, who is struggling with fitness issues of late, is another option that could drop to the bench for the energetic Dominik Szoboszlai in the pivot alongside Gravenberch. Conor Bradley's energy down the right side will be key to locking up Palace's tricky left wing.

Guehi vs Isak - Marc Guehi could easily have been returning to Selhurst Park in Liverpool colours this Saturday. His head-to-head battle with either of Liverpool's new forward signings could decide the fate of this game. Guehi has quickly put the disappointment of not getting his move behind him and is in fine form to start the season. Isak will be keen to get off the mark for his new side and will stretch the defence with interchanges and last-man runs.
Wharton vs Gravenberch - The two midfield governor generals are in supreme form heading into the clash. After returning from an ankle injury, Wharton is looking back to his best and is pulling the strings for his side. His press resistance will hold the key to their chances. Gravenberch, meanwhile, has added a goal-scoring threat to his game and will test Palace more in the final third than he may have in the 2024-25 campaign. However, he should also be wary of the hosts' substantial counter-attacking threat when timing his runs forward.
Sarr vs Kerkez - Sarr loves scoring against Liverpool, dating back to his days at Watford. The Senegalese winger also had a big say in the Community Shield and will fancy his chances going against Milos Kerkez.
Kerkez has had a lukewarm start at Liverpool, but has shown some recent signs of finding his feet. The Hungarian fullback has done well against the likes of Noni Madueke, but also showed he is prone to errors and rash tackles. His temperament would be called into question up against Sarr.
