Caf football has made transition to Bafana easier, says Percy tau

South Africa continued their unbeaten run on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Guinea-Bissau 3-1 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ dynamo Percy Tau was introduced in the second half and almost instantaneously made an impact on the game as he grabbed his first international goal for the senior team.

In the aftermath of Saturday’s win, Tau has expressed his delight with his goal but continued to remain level-headed. Tau also praised his former Masandawana teammate Keagan Dolly’s contribution in the game and has admitted he has missed the Montpellier playmaker this season.

"I'm happy that I scored and it was a good pass from Keagan [Dolly] like always," Tau told The Sowetan.

"I'm just glad that we won. I missed him a bit. Keagan is a good player.

"We have a lot of good players in the national team and I will always be grateful to come to the national team,"he said.

Tau has been an integral part of Sundown continental triumphs and while Tau acknowledges that there is still a lot of work to be done the experience he has gained playing international club football has made his transition into the Bafana fold smoother.

"I have a chance to develop in the national team. We have young and experienced players. It is unbelievable to see the talent here," he stated.

"I think I've had a lot of success in Caf. It's all international football, so it is the same,” Tau added.

“I've been in the final and I've been to the Fifa Club World Cup, so that has made my next step to the national team a lot easier.

"I'm focusing on my work ... I'm supported by a lot of people who see a lot of good things in me,” Tau concluded.
