Bruno Fornaroli left out of Melbourne City squad to face Newcastle Jets

Melbourne City will again be without Bruno Fornaroli this weekend with the Uruguayan not named in Warren Joyce's match day squad to face Newcastle Jets.

Fornaroli was dropped to the bench last week against Brisbane Roar and refused to travel with the squad as a result.

Reports in the aftermath suggested inadequate skin folds were behind the 31 year old being dropped from the starting side, but The World Game claimed tensions between Joyce and Fornaroli over a request to move to Sydney FC over the off-season were the real reason behind it.

While only scoring once across four A-League appearances this season, Fornaroli has a strong record against the Jets scoring 10 goals across eight games and looms as a big absence for a City side short on goals.

Against Brisbane last week, a makeshift City attack failed to strike in a 2-0 defeat leaving them with goal difference of minus two after five rounds.

Without Fornaroli, Joyce doesn't have a recognised striker to call upon making the Uruguayan's absence all the more glaring.

Joyce is developing a track record of falling out with players - Neil Kilkenny and Tim Cahill being two high profile departures from the club last season.

Luke Brattan was also dropped completely from the side in Round 4 in a move that surprised many, only for him to return to the side last week.
