    WHAT HAPPENED?

Surprising speculation has surfaced when it comes to the England captain’s future at Bayern Munich. Kane is hoping to break his trophy duck with the German giants, having joined them in the summer of 2023. At that point, he severed ties with Spurs as the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Tottenham included a clause in that sale which entitles them to match any bids made for Kane. It is being claimed that the terms of his deal in Munich mean that another transfer can be trigged in each passing window – with various asking prices, working on a sliding scale, being put in place.

  • WHAT GUS POYET SAID

Quizzed on whether Spurs might be interested in exploring the option of bringing Kane back, ex-Tottenham star Poyet – speaking in association with makthavare.se – told GOAL: "I don’t know if Harry Kane would be interested! I thought three or four years ago, it was the first time that I really thought he would go – that summer that he didn’t come back and it was like ‘ok, Harry goes now’. Then he stayed. And then he stays. Whenever I expected him to leave, he stayed!

"Apart from the family, how they are doing over there, it’s good for him to have the chance to win things. That’s very important in his career. He is at a top club that he can win trophies with. It sounds difficult [to come back], but you never know."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

There has been talk of Kane returning to north London in red, rather than lilywhite, but Poyet added on the shock Arsenal links: "I don’t think he can be another Sol Campbell, no. A few weeks ago, someone asked me if he would go to Man United. I said ‘only if when he was little he was a Man United supporter’ – that family thing where you want to play for your club. I couldn’t see him going to Manchester United, so Arsenal no chance."

    WHAT NEXT FOR HARRY KANE?

Kane has offered no indication that he is looking for a way out of the Allianz Arena, after hitting 73 goals for Bayern through 76 appearances. He is tied to a contract until the summer of 2027 and is expected to compete for multiple major honours in Germany before any thought is given to a potential new challenge.
