Napoli president confirms Kevin De Bruyne interest as Serie A champions aim to pair Man City legend with midfield hero Scott McTominay

Ever since the 33-year-old announced he was leaving City at the end of the season, after not being offered a new deal, speculation has mounted over where he will go next. Soon after links of a Napoli transfer emerged, De Laurentiis has confirmed they want to recruit the Belgian.

He told II Mattino, via Fabrizio Romano: "We want Kevin De Bruyne, we want to sign him. We need his approval in order to make it happen."

Things are looking very rosy for Napoli after their Scott McTominay-inspired side claimed the Serie A title. The Italian team can look forward to Champions League football next season and the ability to track a higher calibre of player - and that includes De Bruyne.

After De Bruyne rounds off his legendary City career with his side's Premier League match on Sunday at Fulham, the former Chelsea man will head off on his holidays after ruling out playing in the Club World Cup this summer.
